There are four types of content producers. The Professor, The Air Traffic Controller, The Wonderer or The Reporter? Here are the descriptions. Which one are you?
1) Be the Professor: He’s the know-it-all guy who educates and explains everything.
2) Be the Air Traffic Controller: Direct people to other resources that can be useful to your audience so they see you as someone that can help them cut through the web clutter.
3) Be the Wonderer: Ask your audience questions. Draw your audience in and kick-off a dialogue.
4) Be the Reporter: Tell people what you’re working on and what you’re thinking. This re-populates the blog and keeps it alive.
Based on the majority of my blogs, I’d say that I’m the Professor because I love to teach people and educate them on certain topics. During a busy week, I become the Air Traffic Controller and just link good articles that I’ve read.
Bottom line is do what feels sustainable to you. You will find an audience.
